A blueprint for sustainable management in Australia outlines the challenges and opportunities faced, and provides a strategic framework for using the environment to drive the economy. The key initiatives explored include development of a national approach to sustainability reform, a long term commitment to land and water repair, environmental modernization through greenhouse gas reductions and eco-efficiency, elimination of government subsidies which promote environmental degradation and introduction of subsidies for environmental protection measures, and development of regional strategies for sustainable employment. Twenty five sections address various aspects of sustainable environmental and economic management.
