Object of the audit was to assess how four key departments are implementing the 2004 Indigenous Affairs Arrangements (following the abolition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission - ATSIC - and the mainstreaming of ATSIC's administrative responsbilities (IAAs); sets out the 20-30 year timeframe for the Indigenous Affairs Arrangements; stakeholder involvement is through a Ministerial Taskforce, the Secretaries Group and the network of Indigenous Coordination Centres; COAG commitment; funding and Indigenous specific expenditure; identifies areas for improvement in implementing the IAAs and in service delivery.
