International social policy and non-metropolitan Australia
Julian Disney presents a broad picture of the impact of globalisation and social development, before focusing on rural health. He argues that although globalisation has brought disadvantages there are also advantages in terms of the possibilities for the globalisation of governance. Two forms of regionalism are discussed: the potential for development with the East Asian area; and the development of regional centres within Australia. The issue of tax reform to free up resources for areas such as rural health is considered.
