This article examines the impact of job losses from the mining industry, as a result of the end of the mining boom. In particular this article examines the migration of workers away from mining areas to regional centres and cities. This paper presents agriculture as the backbone of the Australian rural economy and highlights the opportunities for agricultural jobs in the wake of the end of the mining boom in regional areas.
