The missing link: mutual forms of organisation, social capital and community regeneration in regional Australia
The authors explore whether the prevalence of collectives in rural areas is a response to government cutbacks and privatisation. They describe a study undertaken to measure the density of mutuals in rural New South Wales and to map the distribution of a number of mutual forms of organisation across the state. The study paid particular attention to how collectives contribute to the social capital of a community and how they affect the communities economically.
