The aim of the analysis was to identify factors which have contributed to the change in economic structure of the Government regions of South Australia (SA) between 2001 (base-year) and 2006 (end-year).
The report is a component of the broader project; ‘Input-Output Tables for South Australia and its Regions, 2006/07’ (EconSearch 2008a). This project will develop a set of regional input-output models for the Government regions of South Australia. Although a characteristic of the input-output model is its detailed representation of the structure of a regional economy, a limitation is that it represents that economic structure at just one point in time.
The approach taken in this report was to consider the structure of the regional economy in terms of industry employment at two points in time, analyse changes over that time period and attribute identified changes to a range of different components.
