  • Year: 2011
  • Author: Coome, Ashleigh; Gillespie, Briohny
  • Journal Name: Australian Pharmacist
  • Journal Number: Vol. 30, No. 5
  • Country: Australia

A survey by the National Australian Pharmacy Students' Association's (NAPSA's) Rural and Indigenous Affairs Committee (RIAC) found that almost half the students wanted to complete their internship in a nonmetropolitan area. In addition, about 80% of the respondents stated they had considered practising in a regional, rural or remote area at a later stage in their career. Students who were unwilling to pursue rural internships and employment cited financial barriers as the main reason for their refusal.
