Hester Dam Catchment Area: Drinking water source protection plan
Plan was developed to help protect the quality of water in Hester Dam and safeguard it for drinking water supply.
The important recomendations in this plan are to:
- ● amend the boundary of the Bridgetown Catchment Area and rename it the Hester Dam catchment area
- ● remove approximately 400 ha of state forest, all privately held land, the golf course and the wastewater treatment plant from the existing Bridgetown Catchment area
- ● propose a resevoir protection zone and Priority 1 area over the entire proposed Hester Dam catchment area, due to its small size
- ● include the boundary of the poropsed Hester Dam Catchment area in the shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes local planning schemes
- ● restrict access to the Hester Dam to prevent unauthorised vehicular and recreational use
- ● erect signs at appropriate locations along the new boundary of the Hester Dam Catchment area
