The Rise of New Manufacturing

  • Year: 2013
  • Author: Allison, J.; Broun, D.; Lacey, J.
  • Country: Australia
  • State/Region: Tasmania

Recent studies have pointed to high levels of investment in production technologies in the manufacturing sector in Australia. In North West Tasmania, manufacturing has been identified as a propulsive industry for the region. Yet we know relatively little about the types of new manufacturing approaches being adopted or the impact of these “game changing” approaches on skills education and training. In order to explore these issues, this research was undertaken to provide more detailed analysis on the characteristics of “new” manufacturing in North West Tasmania.
