It's about people : changing perspectives on dryness : a report to government
As part of the Federal Government's national review of drought policy, the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry appointed an expert panel to examine the social impacts of drought on farm families and rural communities. The Panel's report was released in September 2008, and includes independent research as well as the personal experiences of drought of people who spoke to the Panel during its visits to rural Australia. Topics include values, attitudes and policy; planning for future dryness; community; families; human support services; education and training; human capital; health and wellbeing. The Panel calls for a new approach involving 'living with dryness', rather than 'dealing with drought'.
