Empowering Indigenous governance through vocational education and training
This report investigates the role that vocational education and training (VET) could play in Indigenous capacity building and community governance. Drawing on the research literature, focus groups, and case studies, it examines how Indigenous people conceptualise governance, the skills needed for participation in community and organisational governance, the best models for engaging communities in self governance, strengthening governance through program delivery and service models, and how VET can assist. The report includes the research context, methodology, findings, and recommendations for individual capacity building at the regional and community level.
