Work and family balance in regional Victoria: a pilot project

A pilot research project into work and family balance, funded by Industrial Relations Victoria (IRV) and Regional Development Victoria (RDV), was undertaken in February 2006. The research focuses on four Victorian regional areas: Bendigo, Colac, Horsham and Latrobe City. It draws on an analysis of statistical data to identify major regional socio demographic, industry and employment characteristics that might have an impact on work and family balance. The project highlighted a number of distinctive factors shaping the experience of work and family balance that make working families in these regional areas more vulnerable to work and family imbalance. This report proposes options for government and local action to support regional families. The report appendices are available separately at:
