Food and Fibre Export Performance Report

This report provides information on the value of Victorian and Australian food and fibre exports. The report is prepared by the Trade and Investment Branch and is focused on export performance by industry and key export markets for the 2008-09 to 2012-13 financial years.

Victorian food and fibre exports were valued at $9.4 billion in 2012-13. Export value increased by $428 million (5%) from 2011-12. The value of food exports from Victoria in 2012-13 was $7.6 billion, an increase of $572 million (8%) from the previous financial year. The value of fibre products (including animal fibre and skins and hides) decreased by $144 million, from 2011-12, to be valued at $1.8 billion. In 2012-13 Victoria accounted for 29% of Australia’s total food and fibre exports and was Australia’s largest state exporter. Victoria had a 26% share of Australia’s total food exports and a 51% share of Australia’s total fibre products exports (including animal fibre and skins and hides).
